Hour++ of Code Python 2 (June 10 PM, Gr. 8-12)
Description
The Hour Plus Plus of Code event features various one-off workshops for school-age students to learn how to code and implement popular digital tools. The Python programming workshops are open to Grade 8-12 students who are interested in learning the basics of the Python programming language and best practices in programming. The Python 2 workshop will delve deeper into loops and introduce functions. If you are fairly new to Python programming, we recommend attending Python 1 before attending Python 2. This workshop will use Google Colaboratory.
Date and time
June 10, 2023 (Saturday) from 1-3pm.
Location
Virtual via Zoom. The meeting link will be opened 30 minutes before the workshop starts for students to test their setup (e.g. is your audio working?).
Audience
Grade 8-12 students.
Workshop requirements
Internet access, laptop/desktop computer, and Google account with Google Colaboratory installed (https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/colaboratory/1014160490159).

Zoom Consent: In accordance with the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, FAS Outreach Program, within the Faculty of Applied Sciences, is seeking your consent to host a virtual workshop with your child as a participant in the Hour++ of Code workshop. During this virtual workshop, participants are not required to turn their video on but can choose to do so if they see fit. Those in attendance of this program will be staff and/or volunteers of FAS Outreach Program as well as other registered participants and, if requested by their parents/guardians, the parents/guardians of other registered participants. The video conferencing software that will be used is Zoom, which is based in San Jose, California and therefore has servers based outside of Canada.
