About the Writing Consults and Information Session

Need advice on your writing, or a nudge in the right direction? The Southbank Writer's Program, SFU's 3-month summer creative-writing program at City Centre Library, Surrey is offering a FREE 30-minute consult on 7 pages of your poetry or prose. We will answer any of your questions about writing and/or our program.

Consults are available on:

  • April 9th between 10:30AM and 2:30PM at the City Centre Library, Surrey
  • May 7th between 10:30AM and 2:30PM at the City Centre Library, Surrey

  • Maximum length is 7 pages.

Formatting:

    Your manuscript should be provided in the following form:
  • Title of your work(s), if it has one, at the top centre
  • Your name beneath
  • Page numbers on the bottom
  • double spaced,12-point font

Consultants

Wayde Compton wrote 49th Parallel Psalm (1999), which was a finalist for the Dorothy Livesay BC Book Prize for Poetry, Performance Bond (2004), and After Canaan: Essays on Race, Writing, and Region (2010), which was a finalist for the City of Vancouver Book Award. He also edited the anthology Bluesprint: Black British Columbian Literature and Orature (2001). He is the director of the Writer’s Studio and the Southbank Writer’s Program at Simon Fraser University Continuing Studies.
