Hello! You've reached the Peer Mentor application form for Peer Mentorship Programs - Faculty of Science, Fall 2018. Thank you for taking the time to apply - this application form is expected to take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

Please note that BPK, Math and Biology have department-specific programs, and this application form is for ALL Peer Mentorship programs within the Faculty of Science, including those previously mentioned.

Please note that to become a peer mentor, you must be able to commit to:

  • In-person group interviews (choice of three dates: May 15, June 14, or July 19)
  • Online training (approximately 2 hours)
  • In-person training in the summer (choice of three dates: June 23, August 24, August 25)
  • Communicating and meeting with your mentee over the course of two terms. Specific guidelines will be provided upon successful hiring as a Peer Mentor
  • Completing required assessment and feedback reports, as requested by the program coordinator

Welcome Leader position
We strongly encourage Peer Mentors to also volunteer as Welcome Leaders to provide a seamless transition for our first-year students as they transition to SFU.

To be a Welcome Leader, you will need to finish one extra hour of logistics training and be available to volunteer on Welcome Day (Wednesday, August 29 in Surrey OR Thursday, August 30 in Burnaby).
