In order to make it easier for undergraduate students to attend the SGM on January 21st, the universityâs Senate (the governing body for academic matters) encouraged professors to allow undergraduate students to miss class in order to attend the meeting.
The official motion approved by Senate is as follows: "In recognition of the Simon Fraser Student Societyâs commitment to ensuring that all members of the Society are able to attend and participate fully in the upcoming Special General Meeting taking place on January 21st from 1:30-3:30, Senate encourages all instructors to accommodate, without academic penalty, any students who communicate in advance their intention to participate in the Special General Meeting."
Important: You must have asked your professor in advance if you wished to miss a class that conflicted with the SGM. If your professor requires that you confirm your attendance at the SGM and if you signed in at the meeting's registration tables, the SFSS can provide a letter stating that you attended the meeting. Complete this form to request that an official letter be sent to you which will confirm your attendance at the meeting.
